On October 27, 2024, at approximately 2:10 a.m., a tragic shooting occurred at a house party in the 3600 block of West El Segundo Boulevard in Hawthorne, California. The incident resulted in the deaths of two men: Juan Lopez, aged 29, and Joe Reyes Vasquez, aged 30.
According to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, a male suspect entered the backyard of the residence where the party was taking place and began shooting, striking both Lopez and Vasquez.
The suspect then fled the scene in an unknown direction.
Hawthorne Police Department officers responded to the scene and found both victims in the rear yard of the home. Paramedics from the Los Angeles County Fire Department arrived shortly thereafter and pronounced both men dead at the scene.
As of now, authorities have not released any information regarding a possible motive or a description of the suspect. The investigation is ongoing, and no arrests have been made in connection with the shooting. Detectives from the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department Homicide Bureau are assisting the Hawthorne Police Department with the investigation.
