On the evening of October 2, 2020, Antione Allen, a 48-year-old Black male, was fatally shot in Gary, Indiana. The incident occurred at approximately 7 p.m. in the 700 block of Delaware Street. Allen was a passenger in a vehicle, being dropped off by a female companion, when the sound of multiple gunshots suddenly pierced the evening air.
Both Allen and the vehicle he was in were struck by the gunfire. In the immediate aftermath, his companion fled the scene in an attempt to find help.
Tragically, by the time assistance could be rendered, Allen had already succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the location. The Lake County Coroner's Office later confirmed that his death was a result of multiple gunshot wounds and officially ruled it a homicide.
The Gary Police Department, in conjunction with the Lake County/Gary Metro Homicide Unit, launched an investigation into the shooting. Despite their efforts, authorities have not publicly released any information regarding potential suspects or any arrests made in connection with the case. The investigation into Antione Allen's death remains ongoing, and law enforcement officials have urged anyone with information to come forward to assist in the case. His death marked the 43rd homicide in the city of Gary for that year.
