On the evening of October 10, 2020, law enforcement officers in Fort Wayne, Indiana, responded to a distress call reporting an armed individual at a residence on East Paulding Road. Upon entering the home, police discovered the lifeless body of Tionna Rogan, an 18-year-old Black and African American female. She had sustained multiple gunshot wounds, and despite the arrival of emergency responders, she was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Allen County Coroner’s Office subsequently ruled her death a homicide. As investigators secured the area, they located a second victim, an unidentified male, suffering from gunshot injuries in a nearby parking lot. He was transported to a local hospital in serious condition, but his connection to Tionna’s death was not immediately clarified by authorities.
Tionna was remembered by her community as a quiet and intelligent young woman who had recently graduated from Wayne High School in the class of 2020. At the time of her death, she was pursuing higher education at Ivy Tech Community College and was known for her deep affection for her family, particularly her young nephew, and her love for music. Her untimely passing occurred in the shadow of a previous family tragedy; just over a year prior, in May 2019, she had been present when her brother, Trayvon Rogan, shot and killed their stepfather, Korta Queary. Tionna had been expected to serve as a witness in her brother's murder trial, but she was killed before she could provide her testimony. During the subsequent legal proceedings against Trayvon in 2021, the court noted that Tionna’s murder was considered unrelated to the case against her brother.
Despite the violent nature of the incident and the discovery of the wounded man nearby, details regarding suspects or the motivation behind the shooting have remained scarce. Public records and reports from the years following the incident indicate that no arrests have been made specifically in connection with Tionna’s murder, and the case has lingered without significant updates. While her brother was eventually convicted and sentenced to eighty years for the 2019 killing, Tionna’s own death remains an unsolved chapter for her grieving family and the Fort Wayne community.
