Sara Blackwood, a 39-year-old transgender woman, was tragically shot and killed on October 11, 2020, while walking home from work in Indianapolis, Indiana. The incident occurred in the 2600 block of East Washington Street on the city's near east side. Blackwood was taken to the hospital but succumbed to her injuries. Her death marked the 160th criminal homicide in Indianapolis for that year.
