In the early morning hours of November 28, 2020, the Saturday after Thanksgiving, 39-year-old Jeremy Seldomridge, a male resident of Lawrence, Indiana, was fatally shot in his driveway. A black belt in martial arts, Seldomridge was known to be courageous and protective. Just before 5:30 a.m., he heard a noise outside his home near 50th Street and North Franklin Road and went to investigate. Witnesses reported hearing several gunshots, and Seldomridge was discovered having been shot.
He was transported to Eskenazi Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The investigation into Seldomridge's death suggests that he may have interrupted a theft in progress. The neighborhood had been experiencing a string of thefts from vehicles and equipment. It is believed that Seldomridge confronted an individual or individuals who were in a vehicle outside his residence. Witnesses described seeing him interacting with someone inside a car before the shooting occurred. Despite the ongoing investigation by the Lawrence Police Department, the case has been hampered by a lack of surveillance footage and other substantial evidence.
To date, no arrests have been made in connection with the murder of Jeremy Seldomridge, and the case remains unsolved. In an effort to generate new leads, in January 2022, the Lawrence Police Department, with the assistance of an Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department sketch artist, released a composite sketch of a woman believed to have been a witness to the shooting. Authorities have emphasized that she was reportedly inside the vehicle when the shots were fired. Seldomridge's family has offered a $5,000 reward for any information that leads to an arrest and conviction in the case, hoping to bring justice for his death.
