On the evening of December 3, 2020, Justus Aaron Hudson, a 27-year-old male, was fatally shot in Indianapolis, Indiana. The incident occurred around 9 p.m. in the 1600 block of Harlan Street, near the intersection of Minnesota Street and State Avenue. Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department officers responded to a report of shots fired and discovered Hudson in the passenger seat of a vehicle with a gunshot wound to his chest.
The investigation revealed that the shooting happened at a
nearby market where Hudson had arranged to meet Rasheed Bass, allegedly over a financial dispute. According to witnesses, both men were driven to the location by other individuals. Upon arrival, Bass instructed his driver to park behind the car Hudson was in. Bass then approached the passenger side of Hudson's vehicle, opened the door, and after a brief altercation, shot Hudson in the chest. Following the shooting, the driver of the car Hudson was in reversed the vehicle, colliding with the car Bass had arrived in, and then called 911 for help.
Rasheed Bass was later arrested and faced multiple charges, including murder, felony murder, armed robbery, and unlawful possession of a firearm by a serious violent felon. In June 2024, a jury found Bass guilty on all counts. He was subsequently sentenced in September 2024 to 66 years in prison, with an additional two years of probation.
