On May 21, 2024, a tragic shooting occurred in the 4600 block of Birmingham Drive in Lawrence, Indiana, resulting in the death of 16-year-old Andre Manuel Lara. The incident was reported around 8:40 p.m. when Lawrence Police Department officers responded to a shots fired call in the area near East 46th Street and North German Church Road.
