In the quiet town of Brownsburg, Indiana, a tragedy unfolded that cut short the life of 59-year-old Alana Serio. On the evening of Saturday, January 9, 2021, police were called to the Brownsburg Pointe apartments in the 1000 block of Columbia Circle after reports of gunfire. Inside one of the apartments, they discovered a grim scene. Alana Serio and her 25-year-old son, Steven Serio, were both found with gunshot wounds.
According to witnesses at the scene, the events that transpired were
a shocking murder-suicide. It was reported that Steven Serio admitted to shooting and killing his mother before he turned the gun on himself. The investigation that followed confirmed that Steven was indeed the son of Alana.
Alana was pronounced dead at the scene, her life taken in an act of violence by her own child. Steven Serio succumbed to his self-inflicted injuries a couple of hours later. The incident left the community in shock and mourning the loss of a mother at the hands of her son. Because the perpetrator of Alana's death was also deceased, there were no arrests to be made in connection with her murder.
