On August 21, 2017, 19-year-old Andre Simms was shot and killed on the northeast side of Indianapolis. He was one of two men killed in separate shootings that evening, contributing to a year of escalating gun violence in the city. Simms was found in the 10000 block of East 42nd Street, where authorities responded to reports of gunfire. Despite initial investigations, the case remains unsolved.
