In the spring of 2021, the life of 28-year-old LaTeisha Burnett was tragically cut short in South Bend, Indiana. On the first of April, she was found with gunshot wounds inside a residence located in the 1200 block of West Dunham Street. Two other individuals were also injured in the shooting incident that claimed Burnett's life.
The investigation into her death led authorities to 41-year-old Kenneth Dogan.
Initially, Dogan was not charged in connection with Burnett's death but was arrested on a probable cause warrant for separate charges of invasion of privacy and battery that developed during the homicide investigation. These initial charges stemmed from an incident on the same day as the shooting, where Dogan allegedly confronted a former girlfriend at a bar after seeing her birthday celebration on a Facebook Live video.
As the investigation progressed, Kenneth Dogan, then 42, was charged with the murder of LaTeisha Burnett. In May 2022, a jury found him guilty of murder, criminal recklessness, and invasion of privacy. However, he was found not guilty of attempted murder and voluntary manslaughter.
Following the guilty verdict, Kenneth Dogan, at the age of 43, was sentenced for his crimes. He received a 60-year sentence for the murder of LaTeisha Burnett. He was also sentenced to five years for criminal recklessness and one year for invasion of privacy, with all sentences to be served concurrently.
