On a Sunday afternoon in Anderson, Indiana, 33-year-old Sharmice Boyd was tragically killed in her own home. The incident, which took place in the 1500 block of Walton Street, was witnessed by her three children who were inside the residence at the time of the shooting.
The events that led to Boyd's death began to unfold just before 1 p.m. when a man, later identified as 29-year-old Dmicah Beard of Marion, arrived at her home.
Beard was reportedly looking for a relative and confronted Boyd. During this encounter, Beard shot Boyd multiple times near the front entrance of her house. When police officers arrived at the scene, they discovered Boyd suffering from several gunshot wounds. She was quickly transported to a nearby hospital for treatment but ultimately died from her injuries.
Following the shooting, witnesses informed the authorities that the suspect had fled the scene on foot. The Anderson Police Department launched an immediate investigation and, based on the information provided by witnesses, identified Dmicah Beard as the person responsible for the shooting. Not long after, police located and apprehended Beard in the 1800 block of Nichol Avenue. He was subsequently charged with murder and two counts of criminal recklessness in connection with Sharmice Boyd's death. Authorities have stated that the investigation into the incident remains ongoing.
