On a summer evening in Indianapolis, the life of 22-year-old Ariana Holston was tragically cut short. On Friday, July 2, 2021, Holston, a female, was fatally shot while sitting in a car with her cousin in a parking lot near East 38th Street and Post Road. At the time of her death, Holston was six months pregnant with her third child, a girl, who also did not survive.
Her cousin, who was also pregnant, was wounded in the attack.
Following the shooting, Holston was rushed to a hospital, but both she and her unborn baby were pronounced dead. Her family, devastated by the loss of a mother of two young boys who was excitedly anticipating the arrival of her daughter, believes the shooting was not a random act of violence.
Investigators with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department have stated they believe Holston was the intended target of the shooting. Surveillance footage from a nearby beauty supply store captured a dark-colored vehicle pulling up beside Holston's car before the driver opened fire. Ballistic evidence has linked the shell casings found at the scene of Holston's murder to another shooting incident. Despite these leads and the belief that individuals in the community have knowledge about the crime, no arrests have been made in the case. The investigation into the death of Ariana Holston and her unborn child remains ongoing.
