In the late hours of a Monday evening in Covington, Georgia, a burst of gunfire shattered the night, leaving a young man dead and another wounded. The incident, which unfolded on February 2, 2016, outside a residence at 33 Gum Tree Court, claimed the life of 23-year-old Divante Simmons. Another man, 35-year-old William Lawton, was also struck by bullets but survived his injuries after being rushed to a nearby hospital.
