Despite being rushed to Grady Memorial Hospital, his injuries proved to be too severe, and he succumbed to them.
The subsequent investigation into the death of Nigiel James led to the identification and arrest of three individuals. Curtis McCammon, who was 20 at the time, Hentrez Reed, then 23, and Areon Clemons, 21, were all charged in connection with the murder.
