On the evening of New Year's Day, January 1, 2022, the life of 39-year-old Shane LaVell Furman was tragically cut short in a fatal shooting on the west side of Indianapolis. A Black male, Furman was a father known for his skills in cutting hair and tattooing, and for his love of basketball. His body was discovered in the street near the intersection of West Michigan Street and North Belmont Avenue at approximately 7:30 p.m., marking the second homicide of the year in the city.
