In the early hours of January 6, 2022, LaRon Eskew, a 44-year-old Black male, was brought to Eskenazi Hospital in Indianapolis, Indiana, by a friend. He was suffering from a gunshot wound and, despite medical efforts, succumbed to his injuries shortly after his arrival. The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department was notified of the incident when Eskew arrived at the hospital just before 2 a.m.
Homicide detectives investigating the case believe the shooting may have stemmed from a
fight that occurred around 1 a.m. at the Lava Lounge, a hookah bar located in the 6300 block of Guilford Avenue in the Broad Ripple area. However, investigators faced significant challenges as they were unable to locate a specific crime scene, which complicated their efforts to piece together the events leading to Eskew's death.
As of now, the investigation into LaRon Eskew's death is ongoing, and no arrests have been made in connection with the shooting. The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department has urged anyone with information regarding the incident to come forward and contact Detective Christopher Winter or to provide anonymous tips through Crime Stoppers of Central Indiana. The case remains unsolved, leaving family and friends to mourn the loss of a man remembered for his humorous, loyal, and giving nature.
