In the early hours of April 17, 2022, on the near southeast side of Indianapolis, a report of shots fired brought officers from the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department to the 2700 block of South State Avenue. Upon their arrival just before 1:30 a.m., they discovered evidence of a shooting but found no victim at the scene.
Later, a man arrived at a local hospital with gunshot wounds. This man was identified as 24-year-old Jujuan Finch Jr.
He was admitted in critical condition, and tragically, he succumbed to his injuries the following day, on Monday, April 18, 2022. Homicide detectives were called to investigate his death.
The investigation determined that Finch had been shot on South State Avenue where the initial report of gunfire originated. Authorities have continued to investigate the circumstances surrounding the shooting and have requested that anyone with information contact the IMPD Homicide Office or Crime Stoppers of Central Indiana. To date, no information regarding any arrests or suspects in the case has been publicly released.
Jujuan, known to many as 'Juju,' was a father who was deeply devoted to his son. His family remembered him as a prideful and involved parent who dedicated his life to providing the best for his child. He was also known for his entrepreneurial spirit from a young age and his willingness to help elders in his community. He enjoyed cars, video games, and spending time with his loved ones. His death left a void in the lives of his family, including his parents, wife, son, and an unborn child.
