In Fort Wayne, Indiana, a young woman's life was tragically cut short in a devastating act of violence. Alize Chablis Wiley, a 21-year-old Black female, was killed on April 28, 2022. The events unfolded late on a Wednesday evening when Fort Wayne police were called to an apartment on Cheviot Drive after receiving a report of a problem of an unknown nature.
Upon their arrival at approximately 11:33 p.m., officers observed a person inside the residence armed with a weapon.
This initiated a tense standoff that lasted for over two hours as law enforcement, including the Fort Wayne Police Crisis Response Team, Emergency Services Team, and Aerial Support Unit, worked to resolve the situation peacefully. After their attempts to have the individual exit the apartment were unsuccessful, they made entry into the home.
Inside, they discovered the bodies of Alize Chablis Wiley and a man identified as 20-year-old Kesaun Hunter. The Allen County Coroner's Office later determined that Alize Wiley died from multiple gunshot wounds, and her death was ruled a homicide. Kesaun Hunter's cause of death was a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head, and his manner of death was ruled a suicide. The investigation concluded that the incident was a murder-suicide, with Hunter being the perpetrator. As the suspect died at the scene, no arrests were made in connection with Alize's death.
Alize was a mother to a young son, Nikolai James, and was known for her love of cooking, spending time at the park, and enjoying dance videos. Her untimely death was mourned by her family and friends, who held a vigil in her memory.
