In the winter of 2025, in Fort Wayne, Indiana, the life of 50-year-old Sajdah Abdur-Rabb, a Black female, was tragically cut short. On the evening of January 30th, authorities were called to her residence on Dunkelberg Road where they discovered she had sustained a gunshot wound to her torso. Emergency services transported her to a local hospital, but she ultimately succumbed to her injuries.
The Allen County Coroner's Office later ruled her death a homicide, marking the fifth such case in the county that year.
The investigation into her death quickly led to the arrest of her 53-year-old boyfriend, Reginald Brooks. According to court documents that surfaced after the incident, the shooting allegedly occurred during a drunken altercation inside their mobile home. Reports also indicated that Brooks had made prior threats to kill both Abdur-Rabb and her child.
Sajdah Abdur-Rabb was a mother to nine children and a grandmother to ten. Following his arrest, Reginald Brooks was charged with murder and is being held in the Allen County Jail without bond. The Fort Wayne Police Department, alongside the Allen County Prosecutor's Office and the Allen County Coroner's Office, are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding her death.
