On the evening of July 4, 2022, in Lake Station, Indiana, a young man named Joshua Alvarez, 19, was fatally shot. The incident occurred in the 3300 block of Edison Drive as he was walking home after watching a fireworks display. An argument is believed to have preceded the shooting, which cut short the life of the Gary resident.
