In the early morning hours of August 9, 2022, the life of 19-year-old Tel’Majae Caimron McGee was tragically cut short in Evansville, Indiana. Responding to a call of shots fired at approximately 2:45 a.m., Evansville Police Department officers discovered the young man in an alleyway in the 600 block of Jefferson Avenue. He was suffering from multiple gunshot wounds and was not breathing.
Despite the immediate life-saving efforts of the officers until medical personnel arrived, McGee was pronounced dead at the scene.
Tel'Majae, a male who had earned his high school diploma from the Job Corps at the age of 16, had aspirations of becoming a bricklayer. He was remembered by his loved ones for his love of games, music, and his close bond with his family and friends. The Vanderburgh County Coroner's Office confirmed his identity and an autopsy was scheduled to be conducted.
In the immediate aftermath of the shooting, law enforcement officials reported that there were no witnesses at the scene when they arrived. The Evansville Police Department urged the public to come forward with any information that could aid their investigation into the homicide. As of the latest available information, no arrests have been made in connection with the death of Tel’Majae Caimron McGee, and no suspects have been publicly identified.
