In the late summer of 2022, the city of South Bend, Indiana, was rocked by a grim discovery that would unravel a story of violence. On the afternoon of Tuesday, August 9th, police were dispatched to a residence in the 800 block of Johnson Street. Inside the home, they found the bodies of two individuals, setting in motion a double homicide investigation. The male victim was identified as 24-year-old Phil Honer III. He was found alongside 18-year-old Rainie Best.
