In the late summer of 2022, the community of La Porte, Indiana, was shaken by the violent death of a beloved resident. Nancy Elaine Ainsworth, a 57-year-old White/Caucasian woman, was fatally shot in her home at 906 Ridge Street on August 18, 2022. The initial report to emergency services painted a picture of a tragic accident. Her boyfriend, 62-year-old John McCaw, called 911 to report that Ainsworth had accidentally shot herself in the head.
