On March 20, 2021, a tragic sequence of events unfolded at a residence in Strafford, Missouri, resulting in the death of 71-year-old male Ronald Lee Koehler. He had traveled from Baton Rouge, Louisiana, alongside his wife, Linda Koehler, to stay with their daughter, Tonya Huy, who was recovering from recent back surgery. The couple intended to provide care and assistance during her recuperation, but their presence in the home became a source of tension for Tonya's husband, Jesse Huy.
As
the week progressed, Jesse Huy grew increasingly agitated by his in-laws' extended stay, feeling disrespected and intruded upon in his own home. He later recounted to investigators that he had been waiting for them to depart and felt that his wife was prioritizing her parents over his wishes. On that Saturday evening, after his request for them to leave was rejected, he retrieved a firearm from his truck outside. Returning indoors, he fatally shot his wife and her parents, ensuring they were deceased before contacting authorities.
Following the shooting, the fifty-year-old suspect called 911 and calmly confessed to the dispatcher that he had killed three family members because they would not leave the property. When law enforcement arrived at the scene, they discovered the bodies of Ronald, Linda, and Tonya in the basement of the home. Huy was taken into custody without incident, admitting to detectives that he had 'had enough' of the situation. He was subsequently charged with three counts of first-degree murder and three counts of armed criminal action.
