In the city of Hobart, Indiana, a grim discovery was made on November 4, 2022, that left a community in shock and two families heartbroken. Destiny Loreal Jackson, a 20-year-old woman, was found deceased inside an apartment at the Haven Apartments on Ruta Drive. Alongside her was 19-year-old Nazirah Elizia Ali Muhammad. Both women had suffered multiple gunshot wounds, and their deaths were officially ruled as homicides.
The authorities were first alerted to the situation when a request for a welfare check was made. Upon entering the residence, Hobart police officers found the two young women unresponsive. The investigation into the double homicide began immediately, with law enforcement officials processing the scene for evidence and canvassing the area for any potential witnesses who might have seen or heard something unusual. Investigators later determined that the shooting likely occurred around 4 a.m. on November 3, the day before the victims were found.
In the months that followed, the Hobart Police Department actively pursued leads in the case.
