In the quiet afternoon hours of November 25, 2022, the body of 52-year-old male Terry Robinson was discovered in an alleyway near the intersection of Sycamore and Green streets in Lafayette, Indiana. Local residents had stumbled upon the scene around 2:00 p.m., prompting an immediate police response. Authorities arriving at the site determined that Robinson had been shot, marking the beginning of a homicide investigation that would stretch on for nearly a year.
As detectives worked to
piece together the final moments of Robinson's life, a related discovery was made at a separate location. Robinson’s vehicle was found engulfed in flames in the 1800 block of Wabash Avenue, adding a layer of complexity to the crime scene. For months, the investigation continued without public identification of a perpetrator, leaving the community and Robinson’s family waiting for answers while police gathered evidence connecting the shooting to a broader web of criminal activity.
Breakthroughs in the case finally came to light in late November 2023, when Lafayette police announced a major sweep of arrests. Following an extensive inquiry, seven individuals were taken into custody in connection with the case. Among them, Patrick Norman, 41, faced the most severe allegations, including charges of murder, arson, dealing in methamphetamine, and obstruction of justice.
