In the early morning hours of September 10, 1998, a tragedy unfolded in a quiet Hampton, Virginia home that would claim the lives of a young mother and her son. Nathan Mark Bailey, a two-year-old boy, was fatally shot in his bedroom. His mother, 21-year-old Katherine Esther “Katie” Logan Bailey, was also found shot to death in her bed.
