Thomas Francis "Mongo" McMahon, a 46-year-old police officer with the Richmond Police Department, tragically lost his life on October 14, 1998. Officer McMahon was involved in a high-stakes incident that began when an officer from the Henrico County Police Department attempted to stop a suspect on I-95 for erratic driving. The suspect led the officer on a slow-speed chase through a shopping center, during which he fired several shots at the pursuing officer.
