In the winter of 2017, the life of a young man with a passion for cars and music was tragically cut short in Richmond, Virginia. Twenty-one-year-old Dwayne Fredrick Frazier Jr. was known to his friends and family as a kind and considerate person. After graduating from Highland Springs High School in 2014, he pursued his interest in automobiles by attending the Universal Technical Institute in North Carolina.
He had returned to Richmond and was working as an auto mechanic.
On the evening of December 17th, a grim discovery was made in the Creighton Court neighborhood. Police responded to a call about a person down on Bunche Place. Upon their arrival, they found Dwayne Frazier Jr. and another young man, 20-year-old Anthony J. Jones, deceased inside a vehicle. Both men had suffered from what appeared to be gunshot wounds. The medical examiner was tasked with officially determining the cause and manner of their deaths.
The Richmond Police Department's Major Crimes division immediately launched a homicide investigation into the double murder. Detectives canvassed the area for evidence and sought information from the public, urging anyone with knowledge of the crime to come forward. Despite their efforts and the profound loss felt by the families and community, the case grew cold. To this day, the murders of Dwayne Frazier Jr. and Anthony J. Jones remain unsolved, and no arrests have been made in connection with their deaths. The search for justice for the two young men continues.
