On April 30, 2013, the life of 22-year-old Raymond Seawright was tragically cut short in Newport News, Virginia. An African-American male, Seawright was discovered deceased inside a boarding house located on Chestnut Avenue. He was found lying in the hallway of the residence, the victim of a homicide. At the time of the discovery, authorities began an investigation into the circumstances surrounding his death.
Despite interviewing multiple witnesses who were present at the scene, law
enforcement has yet to make any arrests in connection with the murder of Raymond Seawright. The case has grown cold over the years, leaving his family without answers or a sense of justice. The pain of his loss was compounded by a previous family tragedy; his brother, Ryan Seawright, was also a victim of gun violence in 2008. While suspects were apprehended and charged in his brother's case, Raymond's killer or killers remain at large.
The Newport News Police Department has encouraged anyone with information regarding the death of Raymond Seawright to come forward, but to date, no suspects have been publicly identified or taken into custody. The investigation into his unsolved homicide remains open. His family continues to mourn his loss while awaiting a break in the case that might finally bring closure.
