In the early morning hours of December 29, 2013, a grim discovery was made in a wooded area along the Richmond-Henrico Turnpike. Sheena Green, a 26-year-old female, was found lying on the ground, having been shot and then run over by a vehicle. She was rushed to VCU Medical Center but ultimately succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead.
The investigation into her death quickly zeroed in on a primary suspect: Corenzo Laroscoe Hill, the father of Sheena's two children. Later that same day, Hill turned himself into the authorities. The motive behind this brutal act appeared to be rooted in domestic violence. Just days before her murder, on December 23, 2013, Green had sought a protective order against Hill, stating in an affidavit that he had been physically abusive and had threatened to kill her. Tragically, her petition for the protective order was dismissed because she was not present at the preliminary hearing.
Corenzo Hill, who was 31 years old at the time and had a criminal history that included convictions for grand larceny and assault, was initially charged with abduction, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. Prosecutors later intended to seek a first-degree murder indictment from a grand jury.
Ultimately, Corenzo Hill entered a no-contest plea to second-degree murder. As a result of the plea agreement, he was sentenced to serve 26 years in prison for the violent death of the mother of his children. Sheena Green was remembered by her family and friends as a dedicated mother who worked at a local daycare to provide for her children.
