Vanessa Zaman, an 18-year-old from Henrico, Virginia, tragically lost her life on December 13, 2018. Vanessa and her cousin by marriage, Leona Samlall, were walking near the Oakmeade Apartments on Airport Drive and East Nine Mile Road in Highland Springs when they were confronted and shot by Vanessa's father, Abdool Z. Zaman^1^. The incident occurred around 12:17 p.m., and it was reported that Abdool Zaman got out of his car and shot the girls in what appeared to be a fit of rage^1^.
