Leona Samlall, an 18-year-old from Henrico, Virginia, tragically lost her life on December 13, 2018. She was fatally shot alongside her cousin, Vanessa Zaman, as they walked near the Oakmeade Apartments on Airport Drive and East Nine Mile Road in Highland Springs. The incident occurred when Abdool Zaman, Vanessa's father and Leona's uncle, confronted the girls and shot them in what appeared to be a fit of rage.
