In the late afternoon of November 29, 2021, a domestic dispute in a parking lot of the Bellsun Apartments on South Oak Avenue in Henrico, Virginia, escalated into a tragic and fatal event. Sara Rose Fletcher Pierce, a 30-year-old White/Caucasian female and devoted stay-at-home mother of three, was pronounced dead at a local hospital after suffering severe injuries. Remembered by loved ones for her kind and patient spirit, Sara was a graduate of Henrico High School's Center of Arts Dance Program and an active member of St. John's Catholic Church.
The events that led to her death began with a heated argument with her husband, Patrick Lynn Pierce III. The altercation turned violent in the parking lot where it is reported that he strangled her. The confrontation then moved inside an apartment where Sara was shot multiple times. When Henrico Police responded to a call about the shooting, they discovered Sara gravely wounded.
Patrick Lynn Pierce III, who was 34 years old at the time, was arrested at the scene without incident. He was subsequently charged with second-degree murder and the use of a firearm in the commission of a felony. Following his arrest, he was held without bond and was appointed a court attorney. His initial court hearing was scheduled shortly after the incident, with further proceedings to follow.
