In the early morning hours of October 12, 2014, the life of 32-year-old Julius Keon Giggetts was tragically cut short in a burst of gunfire at the intersection of Park Street and Elwood Avenue in Martinsville, Virginia. A Black male, Giggetts was one of two men who lost their lives that day in what would be investigated as a double homicide. The other victim was identified as Orlando Akridge. A third man was also wounded in the shooting but survived his injuries.
