In the early morning hours of a late April day in Martinsville, Virginia, the life of 37-year-old Clayborne Kent Jr., a Black male, was cut short. Just after midnight on April 29, 2023, police responded to a call about a disturbance in the vicinity of 54 West Church Street. Upon their arrival, they discovered Kent suffering from a gunshot wound.

Emergency medical services were dispatched to the scene, and Kent was quickly transported to SOVAH Health Martinsville. Tragically, he succumbed ...
