In the early hours of April 29, 2023, the Martinsville Police Department responded to a disturbance in the 50 block of West Church Street. Upon arrival, officers discovered 37-year-old Clayborne Kent Jr. suffering from a gunshot wound. He was promptly transported to SOVAH Health Martinsville but tragically succumbed to his injuries en route.
