On the last day of 2014, the family of Jeremiah Eugene Jones reported the 33-year-old Petersburg, Virginia man missing. Their search would come to a tragic end on February 7, 2015, when his body was discovered near the historic Poplar Grove National Cemetery. The cause of his death was determined to be multiple gunshot wounds, leading authorities to rule it a homicide. Jones was a Black male.
