Lamia Beard, a 30-year-old transgender woman, was tragically killed on January 17, 2015, in Norfolk, Virginia. She was found suffering from a gunshot wound in the 700 block of E. 25th Street around 4:00 a.m. and was transported to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital, where she later died. The police identified her as Floyd Beard, but family members clarified that she preferred to be called Lamia Beard.
