In the quiet community of Forest, Virginia, a sense of unease rippled through a neighborhood when a coworker grew concerned about Curtis Lee Brumfield, who had uncharacteristically missed several days of work. This concern prompted a well-being check on April 9, 2015, at the home he shared with his wife, 56-year-old Susan Charlene Brumfield. Responding deputies from the Bedford County Sheriff's Office made a somber discovery inside the residence.
