Jessie Geneva Havens, aged 52, tragically died on May 29, 1983, in Marion, Virginia. Her death was the result of a violent crime that shocked the local community. On the night of May 28, 1983, Jessie attended a dance at the American Legion lodge in Marion. There, she met Lem Davis Tuggle Jr., who introduced himself as David Tuggle. They spent the evening dancing together, and when the dance ended, Jessie left with Tuggle, who had agreed to drive her home.
