In the early spring of 2022, a sense of loss befell a community in Louisville, Kentucky, with the death of 21-year-old Maleke Seviour, a Black male. On the morning of March 5th, a grim discovery was made at an apartment complex off National Turnpike. Inside a residence on Yorktown Terrace, Maleke and another young man, 19-year-old Michael Cooks, were found unresponsive.
Both had sustained fatal gunshot wounds.
Emergency responders were called to the scene, but sadly, both Maleke and Michael were pronounced dead inside the apartment. The Louisville Metro Police Department's Homicide Unit was quick to launch an investigation into what was being treated as a double homicide. The authorities began the arduous task of piecing together the events that led to the violent end of two young lives.
As the investigation unfolded, the Jefferson County Coroner's Office officially identified Maleke Seviour and Michael Cooks as the victims. Despite their efforts and public appeals for information, the LMPD's Homicide Unit has not yet publicly identified any suspects in the case. No arrests have been made in connection with the deaths of the two men. The case remains an open and ongoing investigation as authorities continue to seek answers and justice for Maleke Seviour and Michael Cooks.
