In the quiet community of Marion, Virginia, a heart-wrenching tragedy unfolded on November 20, 2020, claiming the life of 3-year-old Addisyn Nadine 'Addie' Harris. Addisyn, a bright and loving little girl, was a victim of a devastating act of violence that also took the lives of two of her siblings. The female toddler's life was cut short in what law enforcement officials have described as a murder-suicide.
Early that Friday morning, deputies from the Smyth County Sheriff's Office were
called to a home on Harley Road after reports of gunshots. Upon their arrival, they discovered a horrific scene. Inside the residence, they found the bodies of a 27-year-old woman, who was later identified as the children's mother, along with Addisyn and her 10-year-old brother, Jeremih Sean Harley. All had suffered fatal gunshot wounds.
Further investigation revealed the grim reality of the situation. It is believed that the children's mother was responsible for their deaths before taking her own life. Another child, a 7-year-old boy named Anthony Trent Harley, was also found at the scene with critical injuries and was airlifted to a nearby medical center, though he later succumbed to his injuries. An 8-year-old boy was thankfully able to escape the home unharmed.
In the wake of the tragedy, the community was left in shock and mourning. The Smyth County Sheriff's Office confirmed that they were investigating the incident as a homicide-suicide and were not seeking any suspects.
