In the early evening of May 20, 2015, Justin Jarmar Jamison, a 23-year-old male, was found in the front yard of a residence in the 2400 block of Ballentine Boulevard in Norfolk, Virginia. He was suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Emergency services were dispatched to the scene shortly after 6:30 p.m., but Jamison succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the location. At the time of his death, he was an employee of the Norfolk Naval Shipyard.
An obituary notice mentioned his age as 22.
The Norfolk Police Department quickly classified the shooting as a homicide, marking the city's eighth of the year. Witnesses in the area reported hearing as many as ten to twelve gunshots. According to reports, several teenagers were playing basketball at a nearby park when the fatal shooting occurred. The investigation into the violent death of Justin Jamison was immediately launched by Norfolk detectives.
In the initial stages of the investigation, authorities released a limited description of a person of interest. They were searching for a Black male who was seen wearing all black clothing at the time of the incident. Law enforcement appealed to the public for any information that could lead to the identification and apprehension of a suspect, encouraging individuals to contact the Norfolk Crime Line. Despite these efforts, there have been no subsequent announcements regarding any arrests, charges, or legal proceedings in connection with the murder of Justin Jamison. The case, now over a decade old, remains an unsolved homicide, leaving a resolution for Jamison and his family elusive.
