Velda Garner, aged 57, passed away on February 3, 2016, in Richmond, Virginia. Her death was part of a tragic murder-suicide incident. On the morning of February 3, 2016, Richmond police responded to a report of a person down in the 1300 block of East Cary Street. Upon arrival, they discovered 58-year-old Richard Burton suffering from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner ruled his death a suicide.
