Michael Ray Toothman, a 53-year-old male and a respected detective with the Chesapeake Police Department, was fatally shot in his home. The incident, which occurred on August 7, 2016, also claimed the life of his 17-year-old son, Matthew. Michael's wife, Susie, was critically injured in the attack but survived.
A dedicated public servant, Michael Toothman had served with the Chesapeake Police Department for three decades, holding various positions including patrolman, detective, and a member of the S.W.A.T. team and Honor Guard.
