In the summer of 2016, the life of a hardworking and beloved member of the Richmond community was tragically cut short. Habeeb A. Sam Hafeed, a 30-year-old man of Yemeni descent, was fatally shot on August 24, 2016. The incident occurred outside of his own business, Sam's Market, located in the city's East End. Known affectionately as 'Sam' by his patrons, he was a devoted father of two young boys and the proud owner of the convenience store, a dream he had worked tirelessly to realize.
