In the quiet city of Danville, Virginia, a life full of promise was tragically cut short on the night of November 17, 2016. Sean Antwan Clayborne, a 15-year-old Black male, was fatally shot in the 100 block of Piney Forest Road. The Danville Police Department responded to a call of shots fired in the area at approximately 11:25 p.m. and discovered the young man with gunshot wounds.
Sean, who resided at 600 North Pointe Lane, was a student whose life was just beginning to unfold. His sudden and violent death sent ripples of grief and shock throughout the community. He was born on December 5, 2000, and was survived by his parents and siblings who were left to mourn his untimely passing.
The investigation into the homicide led to the arrest of 29-year-old Aaron Pierre Thomas of Danville. A grand jury indicted Thomas on charges of voluntary manslaughter and discharging a firearm in a public place resulting in injury. Following his arrest, Thomas was held without bond at the Danville City Jail.
