On the evening of May 26, 2017, Virginia State Police Special Agent Michael T. Walter, a 45-year-old white male, was shot while on patrol in the Mosby Court public housing complex in Richmond, Virginia. A veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps and an 18-year veteran of the Virginia State Police, Walter was working alongside a Richmond Police officer when they approached a Chevrolet Cobalt that had parked on the wrong side of the street.
