In the late summer of 2017, the life of 38-year-old Andrew Layne, a Black male from Richmond, Virginia, was tragically cut short. On September 4, 2017, Layne was fatally shot in the city's Northside. The incident was reported as a homicide, and the cause of death was confirmed to be gun violence.
