In the summer of 2018, the life of 19-year-old Jairo Armando Sanchez-Guardado was tragically cut short in Virginia Beach, Virginia. A young man who had immigrated from El Salvador just two years prior with dreams of becoming an artist, he was described by his mother as a happy person who enjoyed singing, writing songs, and playing soccer. His body was discovered on July 6, 2018, by two kayakers in Lake Smith, behind Habitat Lane. An investigation quickly determined that Sanchez-Guardado had died ...
